Red Card Overturned – Welcome To Politics!

For those who play aggressive sports we continually hear that one pro sport is set up for “sissy’s” to play is soccer with all the role playing and acting in each and every game.

Regardless of what league you watch it’s not a sport that can be taken seriously unless you come from one of the European countries who relish the acting by these “so called” over paid players.

So FIFA puts on a show to attract record numbers forcing various venues to make huge changes, cities to change with driving routes and even businesses to change which only shows the power FIFA holds and controls.

First I’m happy with the revenue it brings to the cities as well as the individuals who get additional work at stadiums as concessions and broadcast technicians, but beyond that they control the cities they play in.

In addition the outlying communities offer “watch parties” to hopefully get today’s youth involved which can help in more than one area, the first being health.

When you focus on the games and what it means to the various cities it’s all about power and the control they have around the world.

In a game that could put talent on display the “so-called” top players dive and role on the pitch like they just came out of a recent acting class which gives the general public the wrong perception of the sport.

I for one appreciate watching talented players compete at a high level of any sport, but given the recent interference from the US President who got involved when one of the US players got a “Red Card” it only shows who controls the sport.

Clearly it’s not FIFA when they overturn the referee’s decision.

Next up we’ll be watching to see if Canada’s Prime Minister will approach the NHL to overturn calls made involving a Canadian team at the Stanley Cup, which we hope never happens.

For a 90 minute game now the match isn’t being played on the pitch but rather facing political scrutiny following a major disciplinary decision having many questions.

To no surprise from anyone the US President admits calling and to no surprise Sepp Blatter Former FIFA President has slammed the decision to suspend USA star Folarin Balogun’s ban for a red card following Donald Trump’s plea to Gianni Infantino:

He mentions “Red cards are not overturned by political phone calls. They are overturned by rules, evidence and independent bodies.”

So for any future event, pro or amateur if a call doesn’t go the way you want it, just complain to your Association President and if he/she won’t overturn the call be sure to mention that it was overturned by FIFA and see how you make out!!!

Following the match “guess who” called FIFA president Gianni Infantino asking FIFA to review the red card, according to a person familiar with the call who spoke with complete anonymity because the person was not authorized to speak publicly about the matter.

Also hearing that this is the first time since 1962 that a Red Card during a World Cup failed to result in a suspension!!

Remember – any call can be overturned if the match is played according to US regulations.
