Accidents can be avoided but not all especially if you’re involved in contact sports either with other players or possibly your own player mostly during either practice time or a game.
We received the following from Brittany Broderson with the Coastal Tsunami regarding a tragic injury situation that recently happened and along with the team we at Sportswave are asking and requesting that you help any way possible.
The following is the press release sent over to us. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!
Michal was playing a game of pickup hockey in Gibsons on January 9th and had an accidental collision with another player and was airlifted to a hospital in Vancouver where he had emergency surgery.
The surgery was successful, but he currently has no feeling below the shoulders. The doctors think he will regain use of his arms and hands, but walking will be unlikely.
The community has come together to raise money in support of him and his wife, while they undergo a lengthy recovery process.
The Tsunami were originally going to make a donation to the GoFundMe, but we realized we could use our platform to help raise even more money for him.
Over the next 2 weeks, we’ll have our players all over town collecting donations (they’ve been out for the past 2 days and said the support has already been incredible), and then we’ll be dedicating our game on January 31st to Michal.
After the game, we’ll be hosting a social with a live and silent auction with all proceeds going to Michal, and the support we’ve seen with donations for the auction has been huge as well, every business we’ve reached out to has been happy to contribute and we’ve even had businesses reaching out to us to offer donations.
It’s been such a great show of the hockey community coming together to support one of their own.
If you’re free on the 31st, we’d love to have you come up to attend the game and cover it for your website.
And if you’re busy, I’d be happy to send over any details you may need, I know you have a lot of contacts and it would be awesome to get the word out to as many people as we can so we can help Michal as much as possible.
