Vancouver Giants Celebrate 25 Years

The move from Tri-City proved to be a huge win for the Vancouver Giants who first were founded in 2001 making their home at the Pacific Coliseum at the coveted PNE Grounds on Renfrew and Hastings in Vancouver.

Attendance was impressive but the commute for many in the valley was too far for them to travel on a Friday night considering all the traffic issues in the lower mainland eventually prompting the eventual move to Langley.

The home training facility for the Giants is the Ladner Leisure Center adjacent to City Hall and for the players they are able to live and some (not all) taking their schooling in South Delta or Tsawassen.

Over time we’ve seen changes with several players taking the next step to the NHL, many who are still playing in the league with others on their way to stardom in future years.

True they aren’t the only team to advance players to the NHL but locally as a Delta resident we are not just pleased to have them based in Ladner but as some have mentioned  to me “they have the chance to rub shoulders with future and past NHLers.”

As we know the Giants or G-men as some refer to them as are Celebrating their 25th anniversary when they hit the ice  for the 2025-26 Western Hockey League season.

We received the following from the Vancouver Giants Communication staff and wanted to share with fans of the Vancouver Giants.

Enjoy the read:

The Giants have won six divisional championships, three conference titles, one Western Hockey League Championship and one Memorial Cup.

Nearly 40 alumni have advanced from the Giants to the National Hockey League, with dozens more actively playing professionally in leagues across the world.

When the puck drops for the 2025-26 season, we are proud to commemorate 25 Years of Giants hockey.

Our 25th anniversary season will be marked by a commemorative logo, which will be proudly displayed on our jerseys for the upcoming season, along with a new centre-ice logo.

Over the course of the 2025-26 season, the Giants 25th year celebration will include:

  • A fan vote to determine and unveil the Top-25 players of all-time (voting opens Sept. 1)
  • Highlighting our history through merchandise, including anniversary branded hats, commemorative cups & more
  • Offering unique food and beverage deals at various price points
  • Honouring alumni at various home games throughout the season
  • And much more!

The Giants will officially open their 25th anniversary season on September 20 against the Penticton Vees at the Langley Events Centre. Single game tickets go on sale September 3. Season tickets and flex packs are available now.

Throughout the 2025-26 season, we will also ask fans to interact and share some of their favourite memories of the last 25 years
