Several sports gets ton’s of coverage but it seems that everyone fails to cover Athletes who are so very deserving to be covered and are currently taking part in the Summer Games hosted by #CityofPG.

Covering various sports we are pleased to work with several individuals who never ask for anything other than to be welcomed by the team.

One such team is the Richmond Sockeyes of the PJHL who have a dedicated group of Special Olympic Athletes who are more than welcomed by the team at all games and events.

Currently some are competing at the Summer Games in Prince George and it’s not just the Richmond Sockeyes Athletes but over 900 competing the Opening Ceremonies from across the province.

This event is a huge undertaking and wouldn’t happen without the community pulling together as a group which says a lot about the City of Prince George.

Special Olympics aims to open hearts and minds towards people with intellectual disabilities and strives to create inclusive communities.

Special thanks to the organizing committee which is chaired by Lyn Hall and Renee McCloskey in addition to the volunteers, and the sponsors.

Check out www.SOBCGames.ca for sport schedules on July 11th-12th. Come out and cheer on these athletes.

The Opening Ceremony for the 2025 Special Olympics British Columbia Summer Games touched hearts, inspired us and filled the CN Centre with joy.

The team that put together the opening ceremony off is led by Katherine Benny, MCs Susan Wang and Sportswave’s good friend and hockey referee Caden Fanshaw plus the City of Prince George.

The following press release is from the Special Olympics web site so be sure to check it out and keep up to date on these inspiring athletes!!!

YOU WON’T REGRET IT!!!!!!
