Delta’s Jill McKnight Minister Of Veterans Affairs

Politics aside and given that the election is now over Sportswave wants to thank the four candidates in Delta who ran for the past election and win or lose everyone was a winner for simply stepping up and running putting themselves in full public view.

Sportswave was pleased to live stream the All Candidates Meeting in North Delta that brought the meeting to the community who were unable to attend due to the small number allowed to get inside- due to seating capacity.

Jill was sworn in as Canada’s Minister of Veterans Affairs and Associate Minister of National Defence and having my Father as a WW2 Vet; I fully understand the importance this role plays.

Sportswave and Eastlink TV first met Jill McKnight at South Coast Casuals in Ladner where we arranged to set up an interview when she was taking on the position at the Delta Chamber of Commerce as the Executive Director.

For those not knowing Jill was born and raised in Delta for 28 years where Jill and her family owned South Coast Casuals in Ladner in addition to the fact that she worked with the Ladner Village Market.

She went on to earn a Bachelor of Commerce in Entrepreneurial Business from the University of Victoria and for the past three and a half years she served as the Executive Director of the Delta Chamber of Commerce.

She continues to volunteer with the Ladner Business Association which includes five years as president and given her new role in Ottawa her volunteering might slow down somewhat.

She received the King Charles III Coronation Medal, the Queen’s Jubilee Award and the 2019 Volunteer of the Year Award and is dedicated to see Delta has a strong voice in the decisions that affect its future.

Sportswave is excited to work with Jill and are looking forward to arranging our first interview which is currently in the works and of course depending on her time when  she returns from Ottawa.

Taking a step back and retiring is Carla Qualtrough who Sportswave and Eastlink TV have had a healthy working relationship during her time in office and whenever we have reached out to her she has been more than gracious with our request which we truly appreciated and thank her for her time. Enjoy retirement
