Delta Islanders Coaches Named Coaches Of The Year

The past couple of seasons both myself and Jagraj Lalli have had the privilege of working with the Delta Islanders Lacrosse Clubs who are based in Ladner playing out of the Leisure Centre.

The season officially kicks off the later part of April and given the playoff run concludes the middle part of July, but that depends on the length of the playoff run.

We have the luxury to work with various individuals ranging from the players to coaches, management as well as the executive body of the Association.

At times various changes are made throughout the season mainly with players but they are made for both the betterment of the players and the club.

The Islanders have an exceptional working relationship with the other clubs so any player movement or trades are not all that convoluted for anyone.

This past season we have covered and broadcast the Junior Tier 1, Tier 2 as well as Junior A clubs watching their progression for all home games that have been well received from those viewing the games.

All games (unlike other streaming providers) are set up free to watch rather than charging the parents, grandparents and/or scouts watching the games.

At times this year we have had the luxury to utilize the services of Matt Hoegg as a color commentator which he filled in, skeptical at first but then he asked if his services were required and oddly enough he enjoyed filling in and was quite good at it.

He added additional information that involved internal stats, figures and behind the scenes info which only executives were privy to.

Having said that the season wasn’t an overall loss as the “A” team made the playoffs while both the B 1 and B2 team will rebuild for the 2026 season.

On a winning point we are pleased to mention that the Junior A Coaching staff were recognized as the winning Coaches of the Year in the BCJALL.

In addition the league recognized the overall structure, discipline and winning ways the coaches brought in 2025 noting that the team took huge steps under their guidance this season!

Congratulations also go out to both Logan Schuss and Matt Hoegg for being named Executive Team of the Year for the BCJALL.

Off the floor they worked tirelessly hours to improve the overall team culture and player depth, and translated it to a winning season in 2025.

Well deserved and Sportswave is proud to be connected with the Delta Islanders organization.

We can’t wait for 2026!!!
