Locally the hockey landscape has recently changed since June 1, 2023, after announcing the decision on May 1, 2023 which saw the (former) PJHL officially was introduced as the new BCHC
There are four divisions comprising teams from around the Province who will play within their respective conference with the winners advancing to play the top team in one of the other divisions.
As of press time we have not heard how this will all play out but all indications are that we will get answers to our questions when the Delta Ice Hawks host the first ever BCHC Prospects game November 24th at Delta’s Sungod Arena.
The rosters have recently been released which will make up both Team Black and Team White with 40 players selected to showcase their abilities in front of Western Hockey League scouts and staff.
The two coaching staffs each drafted 12 forwards, six defencemen and two goaltenders from a shared player pool featuring young talent from all four BCHC divisions.
The host Delta Ice Hawks, the youngest team in the conference, lead the selections with six players, split evenly between the two sides.
Among those familiar matchups, Delta forwards Lukas Hoff and Beckett Matlock will represent Team White, potentially facing teammate Lucas Disiewich in the Team Black net.
Team Black
Terry Jones of the Beaver Valley Nitehawks will serve as head coach, joined by assistant coaches Colin Minardi of the Princeton Posse and Greg Ross of the Port Coquitlam Trailblazers.
