Each year we cover the Delta Sport Hall of Fame banquet when they induct the newest members into the prestigious Delta Hall of Fame which is a way in which to “thank” those who have worked long hours dedicating their time to Delta athletes.
Recently announced this year are the 2026 Inductees which we thank for their dedication to Delta Athletes.
The class of 2026 includes six inductees and 11 sport champions, who will be recognized at the hall’s Banquet of Champions next month.
This year’s inductees are Craig Preece (athlete – basketball), Lucy Charuk (athlete – volleyball), Helmut Wiebe (coach – soccer), Westham Islanders (team – lacrosse), Dale Saip (builder – football), Brad Lazarowich (pioneer – hockey) and Delta Prescriptions (sponsor).
Sport champions being recognized this year are Cody Tanaka (athlete – curling), Silas Richmond (athlete – lacrosse), Elli Thompson (athlete – softball), Sam Rogers (youth athlete – soccer), Owen Mayhew (youth athlete – rowing), Ryan Assaly (youth athlete – volleyball), Finlay Skinner (youth athlete – soccer), Gayle Hubbard (masters athlete – rowing), Winskill Dolphins (team – swimming), Dan Burgess (coach – volleyball) and Judy Jones (volunteer – hockey).
The Delta Sports Hall of Fame’s 2026 Banquet of Champions takes place on Saturday, Oct. 24 at the Coast Tsawwassen Inn. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the banquet starts at 7 p.m.
