2026 Canadian Mixed Doubles Championship

While many are focused on hockey in all areas of especially the lower mainland others are hitting the ice at the 2026 Canadian Mixed Doubles Curling Championship which is getting underway at the Cloverdale Curling Club

In total there will be twenty-eight teams competing from across the country which include 14 Member Association champions for not only the top prize of $20,000, but also the right to represent Canada at the 2027 World Mixed Doubles Championship.

The remainder of the field, apart from the provincial/territorial champions, qualified from through the Canadian Mixed Doubles Rankings (CMDR).

The teams hit the ice with a pair of draws Saturday (all times Pacific), at 6 p.m. and 9 p.m., followed by three days of draws beginning at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.

The 28 teams are divided into four pools of seven, with the pools formed based on the CMDR as of Feb. 18th noting that each team will play six games within its respective round-robin pool, with the final round-robin draw set for Wednesday, March 25, at 4 pm.

The four pool winners will be seeded directly into the playoff quarterfinals, scheduled for March 26 at 7 pm, noting that the next eight best round-robin win-loss records will earn berths in the playoff qualification round, which is scheduled for March 26 at 1 p.m.

The semifinals will take place March 27 at 9:30 a.m., followed by the gold-medal game at 1 p.m.

The winning team will earn the opportunity to represent Canada at the 2027 World Mixed Doubles Championship (location to be announced). World Curling has confirmed that beginning with the 2027 event, the World Mixed Doubles Championship will take place in early January, moving from its existing late April slot.

The pairing of Kadriana Lott and Colton Lott from Gimli, Man., who won the 2025 Canadian Mixed Doubles Championship, will represent Canada at the 2026 ACE & Company World Mixed Doubles Championship April 25-May 2 in Geneva, Switzerland.

Team Lott/Lott won’t be playing in the 2026 Canadian Mixed Doubles Championship, as Colton Lott will be part of Team Matt Dunstone representing Canada at the 2026 LGT World Men’s Curling Championship, which begins March 27 in Ogden, Utah.

But there will be no shortage of other star power competing in Surrey, including the two-time Canadian champion Chestermere, Alta., duo of Jocelyn Peterman and Brett Gallant, who represented Canada in mixed doubles curling at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Cortina, Italy. Gallant also won gold playing second for Brad Jacobs’ Canadian men’s four-player team.

Also in the field, and in the same pool as Peterman and Gallant, is Olympic bronze-medallist Rachel Homan of Beaumont, Alta., who’s playing with Brendan Bottcher of Edmonton. Peterman and Gallant defeated Homan and Bottcher in the final of the 2025 Canadian Mixed Doubles Trials to earn the right to play at the Olympics.

The rematch is scheduled for March 25 at 4 p.m.

Also in the field are the 2023 Canadian champions Jennifer Jones and Brent Laing from Barrie, Ont.

There are two entries from the host province. Newly crowned provincial champions Sarah Loken and Cody Tanaka (Victoria/Delta) are in the field, along with Courtney Woo and Daniel Wenzek and Daniel Wenzek (Langley/Cloverdale), who qualified through the CMDR.
