The teams march through the 2020 MLB post season began in the wild card series games of which four series were played in a best of three series Los Angeles advanced played the Milwaukee Brewers.

Tampa Bay in their wild card series defeated the Toronto Blue Jays in straight game winning the series 2-0, in the divisional series they took on one of the best teams outside of the Los Angeles Dodgers the New York Yankees and in a marathon series defeated them in five games 3-2 to advance.
To the League championship series against the Houston Astros the Rays pulled into a 3-1 series lead against Houston only to have a battle on their hands after taking the lead as the Astros pulled even tying the series at 3 games apiece.
But Tampa Bay won the game when it counted in game seven doubling the Astros 4-2 to take the American league title in 7games 4-3 and advance to the world series against the rich history of the Los Angeles Dodgers for the 2020 title.
